Meet Kai, the official mascot of the Pan-Pacific Festival

Allow us to introduce Kai, the official mascot of the Pan-Pacific Festival.

Kai is a cheerful little Hunakai, a Sanderling, with an endless appetite for adventure and a heartfelt curiosity about people and their cultures. A true global traveler, Kai follows the rhythm of the seasons, always guided back to the sun-kissed shores of Hawaiʻi. She’s the ultimate wave chaser, scurrying along white sandy beaches, basking in the ocean breeze and golden sunlight, and gathering stories from everyone she meets along the way. Each tale she collects becomes part of her ever-growing journey.

With a boundless sense of wonder, Kai eagerly awaits her annual return to Hawaiʻi for the Pan Pacific Festival, a magical celebration filled with music, dance, and vibrant traditions
from across the Pacific and beyond. For Kai, it’s a time to learn, connect, and celebrate the beauty of cultural diversity. She loves bringing others along on her adventures, so keep an eye out for this little bird and her flock of friends. Wherever Kai goes, she’s sure to share stories, spark joy, and spread aloha with every step and every flutter of her wings.
